This summer, The Last Mixed Tape will launch a new gig series in association with The Sound House. The first installment of Hyphen Pop will take place on the 9th of August at The Sound House in Dublin with Art School Girlfriend.
Art School Girlfriend is the solo project of producer and songwriter Polly Mackey. After a five year stint in London fronting a shoegaze act, Mackey relocated to Kent and began writing and producing music as Art School Girlfriend. Her debut EP ‘Measures‘ was released in 2017 after signing to Wolf Tone Records and single ‘Moon’ followed in early 2018.
Mackey’s shoegaze and new wave influences are apparent on EP, ‘Measures’. The listener is contently enveloped in four meandering, laid back pieces. The EP bears sensual and ethereal vocals above reverb heavy soundscapes while intricate drum and percussion parts keep it all afloat.
